How Does It Work

UF4B provided access to an extensive team with a strong track record in raising finance.  Through a combination of workshops and mentoring, they helped identify the right type of funding for each business and supporting the raising finance process.

Mentoring was available for companies who were ready to apply for grants or bank funding, or pitch to equity investors.

The Equity package, for those looking to secure equity funding, offered additional support to hone the pitch including:

  • a one-to-one session with a pitching expert
  • a dry-run pitch to ‘friendly’ investors – for feedback
  • pitch for real.

Progression to mentoring required prior attendance at workshops, a clear proposition and a fully worked up business plan, to ensure you derive maximum benefit from the time spent with the mentor.  If deemed suitable for mentoring, a mentor was allocated.  The mentors matched specific requirements.   For example, if you were aiming to secure grant finance, a specialist with a track record in raising grant finance was selected.

If you looked to raise equity finance, investment specialists with extensive experience in raising equity funding and well developed links into regional investment networks were there to provide support.
