Cambridgeshire firms are currently recruiting and growing with the support of the Inspiration for Growth programme run by St. John’s Innovation Centre.
Business workshops designed to inspire and support companies with high growth potential have been attended by over 150 individuals, and business advice sessions with advisers from St. John’s have also proved beneficial to many companies now actively looking to recruit.
Madhuri Warren of award-winning Pathology Diagnostics Ltd. has attended workshops and also sought advice regarding recruitment. She enthused “The workshops have been very useful and Janette Pallas, Enterprise Manager at St. John’s, gave me sound advice regarding our many recruitment goals”.
Forthcoming workshops have been designed to support marketing, business development and recruitment of full-time and project staff. Business workshops are being delivered at St John’s Innovation Centre and also at other venues around the County including E-space at Littleport and Buckden Towers near St. Neots.
Jason Duff of Huntingdon-based Keeping HR Simple has attended a number of the workshops. “We have found the series of events that St John’s Innovation Centre has provided an invaluable resource for the development of our HR consultancy. The caliber and experience of speakers has been excellent as well as the facilities and hospitality. Without these workshops we would not have the opportunity to engage with such a depth of business expertise. The only cost to us has been our time to attend and we highly recommend this service and look forward to future events”.
David Gill, Managing Director at St. John’s Innovation Centre adds “Many of the companies we see across Cambridgeshire are still growing and planning increased growth, so we need to do all that we can to encourage and facilitate their development. The workshops are covering topics that any business wishing to grow will need to manage as part of their development.”
Since moving in to St. John’s only seven months ago, technology design company Argon Design Ltd, has doubled in size and is now moving to a larger unit. Alan Scott, MD of Argon Design said, “the ability to move to a larger unit, while continuing to benefit from the excellent facilities and the business support team, were key factors in Argon Design’s original decision to choose St John’s Innovation Centre”.
The Inspiration for Growth Programme is supported by the Greater Cambridge Partnership and is open to any Cambridgeshire-based (excluding Peterborough) company with fewer than 50 employees and an annual turnover of less than €10M. The package of support available to them includes individual surgeries where they can see an adviser for a face-to-face discussion of their particular issues and needs, and attendance at relevant workshops which are planned throughout the year.
