SJIC gives something back

St John’s Innovation Centre has provided Arthur Rank Hospice Charity with a cheque for £657 plus a further £100 cash.

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has been SJIC’s Charity of the Year.  Tenants and staff regularly took part in fundraising activities, from painting the – male – MD’s fingernails to fancy dress.

In addition to the fundraising events, as the centre is going through a refurbishment, old furniture and paintings were offered to tenants for a donation with the funds going towards the charity.

Janette Pallas, Enterprise Manager at St John’s Innovation Centre said: “Supporting a worthwhile charity like Arthur Rank Hospice Charity has not only been rewarding for the centre but has also offered the perfect opportunity for tenants to interact with each other and build connections.  Fundraising for a local charity is a great form of teambuilding!”

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity works in partnership with the NHS to offer vital hospice services, supporting over 1000 patients each year, as well as their family and friends.  Donating as little as £30 provides a counselling session for patients and relatives, £100 buys two weeks’ supply of soft drinks, aperitifs and special food to improve patient’s appetites and £1000 keeps the Day Hospice running for one day.
